BASEMENT ENTRANCE RESTORATION AT 5 ECCLESTONE SQUARE
PIMLICO LONDON
Heritage Restoration: The Basement Entrance at Ecclestone Square

Basement Entrance Renovation | Pimlico | Poppy Design Ltd
The Briefing
Located within the Pimlico Conservation Area in Westminster, this Grade II listed property sits in one of the capital’s most distinguished garden squares, Eccleston Square. The basement flat entrance had deteriorated over time and no longer reflected the architectural quality of the historic building.
Any intervention required careful navigation of Planning and Listed Building Consent, with close scrutiny from Westminster’s conservation officer to ensure historical integrity was preserved.
The Solution
We developed a sensitive refurbishment strategy focused on material quality, proportion, and detailing. Working closely with the local authority, every element was carefully specified to align with the building’s original architectural language while subtly improving durability and finish.
The works were executed smoothly, respecting both the heritage fabric and the conservation framework governing the square.
The Value Created
The redesigned entrance now presents a welcoming and architecturally coherent arrival sequence, enhancing the visual character of the listed building. The upgrade in material quality and detailing not only improved the aesthetic experience but also increased the property’s market appeal and long-term asset value.
