Poppy Design Ltd is a boutique architectural and interior design studio founded by Bassiano Calzolato, specialising in residential refurbishments, extensions and interior architecture across Fulham, Parsons Green, Chelsea and Pimlico.
The practice is built on the belief that well-considered design can significantly improve everyday living while reducing environmental impact. We guide clients step by step from initial ideas to built reality, ensuring clarity, confidence and continuity throughout the design process. By working primarily with existing buildings, Poppy Design focuses on adaptation, reuse and careful enhancement, rather than unnecessary demolition or overdevelopment.
Bassiano is an architect with experience across residential, commercial and large-scale infrastructure projects in the UK and Europe. This background brings a high level of technical rigour, coordination skills and strategic thinking to domestic-scale projects, particularly in complex urban and conservation settings.
Now based in Fulham, the studio prioritises local projects to maintain a hands-on, responsive and collaborative approach. Every project benefits from direct involvement from the director, ensuring continuity, clarity and attention to detail from concept through to delivery.
Sustainability is embedded into the design process from the outset. Rather than relying on superficial solutions, Poppy Design focuses on long-term performance, durable materials and intelligent spatial planning, creating homes that are comfortable, adaptable and resilient over time.

What we do
Poppy Design has extensive experience in restoration of listed buildings, renovation of period properties in conservation areas, as well as in the construction of extensions, conservatories, loft conversions and additional storeys.

Ideally following the initial assessment a site visit should be arranged to have a feel of the space and carry out a measured and photographic site survey to gather all the existing dimensions and to document the existing condition of the property.

CALZOLATO
is an Architect and Interior Designer with a wide range of experience in UK and in Italy, who can help you on all the construction phases of your project.

He completed his studies at the Architectural University Institute of Venice in 2002 and attended the Professional Practice & Management course at the Bartlett University College of London in 2009.
​
His professional experience started in Italy, where he was involved in a wide range of conversion and restoration projects of listed buildings. His career then evolved in London where he collaborated with several firms on residential projects and some of the most iconic airports and rail stations.
Poppy Design Ltd was established in 2013, a micro architectural practice to assist his clients.
